• SI.com’s Stewart Mandel says that Boise State’s Chris Petersen might be the best fit for Tennessee’s next head coach.
• Here’s another article about the wild A-11 offense that a high school in California runs that some call “the football offense of the future.” Basically, the idea is two quarterbacks and almost everybody eligible to catch a pass. I hear there’s a school in Knoxville that might be interested in this.
• And finally, if you care about basketball at all, then you should pay respects at the death of Pete Newell. Newell died at 93 and was a long-time coach who led California to the national title in 1959. But more importantly, Newell was considered perhaps the premier basketball mind ever. Many referred to him as the “Yoda” of basketball and he’s one of the very few people Bobby Knight defers to in basketball knowledge.
